We Need YOU at Summer Camp!– This one-week camp will be held July 13-17 on Dan Donovan’s 110-acre farm in Upperco. Sign-ups are going slowly – perhaps you don’t realize that we are not hiring staff – the camp will depend entirely on volunteers. Helpers are needed in many areas: providing meals/snacks, playing soccer, hiking, bug catching, woodworking, swimming, riding ponies, etc. Please look for the sign up poster in the Parish Hall. Contact Dan (410-375-6106) or Melanie Heacock (410-356-2436) if you have questions.
Have Fun and Swing a Hammer – Last fall, St. John’s contributed most of the proceeds from the 2008 Horse Show Weekend to Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity to help purchase a derelict house on Ward Street(near Paul’s Place). Now we are being invited to help rehab that house, working with other parishioners and with the future homeowner. There are FIVE work slots on Saturday, May 30, and FIVE on Saturday, June 13. Please notify Melanie Heacock ASAP if you want to participate (410-356-2436, melanieheacock@gmail.com). More dates will be scheduled in July and August. The work day runs 8:15-3:45. The youngest workers permitted are 16 years old.
Gearing up for the Horse Show Weekend–
The 66thAnnual Horse Show Weekend (the Church’s main fundraiser)
will be held on September 11-13. . It will include a Friday evening Cocktail Party/Auction, Saturday Horse Show and Sunday “Homecoming” Picnic. Many volunteers are needed to make this a success. For example, we need someone who uses a computer well to help with “thank you” letters. We need people to solicit Sponsorships, Ads and Auction Items – we will give
you packets of materials to make this easy. Of course, we need wonderful auction items andSponsorships! Many workers are also needed for the Horse Show food booth and ring crew. Others will help with the Homecoming Picnic on Sunday. Look for the sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall.
